Enrichment Programs


Registration Information:
1. Call the Hatchery to reserve a space for your child at (516) 692-6768.

2. Mail the completed registration form along with a full nonrefundable payment to:
        CSH Fish Hatchery & Aquarium

        Attn: Education Director

3. Payment must be received within one week of placing your child's name on the sign-up sheet. After 1 week the Hatchery reserves the right to give that spot to another child.



February Vacation Programs 2008:
 
February Vacation Programs (3 Day Program)
Fee: $45 (members); $50 (non-members)
 
This program is designed for children who are currently enrolled in Grades 3-6. Students will explore and learn about winter habitats, migration, and hibernation.

  Session A February 19-20 10am - 11:30am
 
 
February Vacation Programs (One Day Programs)
Fee: $10 (members); $15 (non-members)
 
These one day programs are for children who are currently enrolled Grades K-2. Students will enjoy a nature craft and a short outdoor activity.
Note: The program will be the same each day.

Summer Enrichment Programs 2008:
 
Close Encounters of the Natural Kind
Fee: $45 (members); $50 (non-members)
 
This 4 day program is designed for children who will enter Kindergarten in September 2008. Participants will be introduced to the Hatchery and surrounding natural area. Depending on the weather, sessions will include an outdoor walk, arts & crafts and a tour of the Hatchery.

Curious Naturalists
Fee: $70 (members); $75 (non-members)
 
This program is designed for children who will enter grades 1 or 2 in September 2008. Curious Naturalists will view the natural environment in and around the Hatchery. The curiosity of the participants will be encouraged through natural expeditions, games, and crafts. Children may get wet and muddy during hands-on activities.

Field Explorers
Fee: $90 (members); $100(non-members)
 
Field Explorers have fun learning the facts concerning our environment. This week long program encourages children entering grades 3-7 in September 2008 to become more aware of our delicate environment. We will be exploring the salt-marsh, pond, and woodland habitats. Students will get wet and muddy during hands-on activities.

Nature Photography
Fee: $25 (members); $30 (non-members)
 
For students entering grades 4-6 in September 2008. This program will introduce students to the wonders of nature photography. Students may bring their own digital camera or use one provided by the Hatchery. Digital photography equipment donated by CANON. Taught by noted nature photographer Michael Fairchild.
  Session P-A July 1st 1pm-3pm
 
 
Field Experts
Fee: $100
 
For students entering grades 6 and up in September 2008 and who have participated in the Field Explorers program for a minimum of 3 years. Students will spend an extra day in the Salt-marsh and Franklin's Pond exploring with fellow Field Experts. They will also be an assistant during one week of the Field Explorers program.


        Monday, June 30th 10am-3pm      10am - 3pm     *Please pack lunch.

On the registration form, for session, please write 'X' and the Field Explorers session you choose to attend.
 
 
 
Turtle Trackers
Fee:$50 (if also participating in Field Experts); $60 for Turtle Trackers only
 
Turtles have roamed the Earth for millions of years. This three day program will help students learn more about these fascinating reptiles. We will be spending a lot of time outdoors, and hopefully catch a few turtles! For students entering grades 6 and up in September 2008.
