Catch & Keep Trout Fishing
Fish the Tidal Raceway! $5/session. All fish caught must be kept. Take your catch home for $4 per fish. Out of the pond and into your pan.

Trout Challenge
On going during our regular "Catch & Keep" Fishing sessions. Trout Challenge, the longest fish caught each month wins! Prizes are sponsored by the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium. For all ages. For specific rulescall the Hatchery at 516-692-6768

Trout Birthday Party
Come celebrate the birth of our beautiful trout and enjoy refreshments.

February Vacation Program

Freshwater Fishing on Long Island
Join us for a discussion of where and what to fish for in Long Island's freshwater areas. Our guest speaker will be Heidi O'Riordan, a biologist from the NYS DEC. We will also be joined by Melinda Nichols of the I Fish New York program for a fishing demonstration.

Environmental Education Week
Join us as we celebrate National Environmental Education Week! There will be additional information for families, and coloring activities for children, about how to "Be Water Wise!" For more information about National Environmental Education Week click here.

Spring Fair
Come join us for a warm day of games, refreshments and fishing for brook and rainbow trout in our Tidal Raceway.  Only Hatchery provided fishing gear may be used.  Only children under the age of 12 may fish.

LI Herp Day
Observe and learn about herps, which include amphibians and reptiles, in exhibits by the Long Island Herpetological Society Don't forget to check out the Hatchery's herps on display! 

Summer Enrichment Programs
Students entering Kindergarten and up in September of 2010 may participate in the Hatchery's Summer Program.  Students explore the local ecology during the week long sessions.  Call for complete information and reservations.Enrichment Programs

Tiny's Hatch Day/Turtle & Tortoise Pageant
Join us as we celebrate the birthday of Tiny, our famous snapping turtle. Try to guess his weight, enjoy our refreshments, and learn about the hatching process of turtles.
Hobbyists and general public can enter their turtles and tortoises in  the 12th Annual Pageant. Pre-registration is REQUIRED . Please contact the Hatchery for an entry form.

Hatchery Board of Trustees Fundraiser
Enjoy an evening with Hatchery friends. To receive an invitation, please call the Hatchery.

Fall Fair 
The Fall Fair provides visitors the opportunity to learn from conservation and environmental groups, play games, enjoy food and refreshments, and fish for trout (children under 12 only).  All fishing gear provided.

Fish Friends for Mommy and Me
The Mommy and Me program provides kids along with their mother or caretaker to learn about fish, 45 minute program includes trout feeding, and a nature craft. For children 3-5 on Mondays at 11:00 during December, January, and February. Pre-registration suggested. General Admission.

First Saturday Fishing Buddies
This program allows two people to fish for the price of one during the first fishing session on the first Saturday of the months of December, January, and Febuary. The registration fee of $5 is waived for the second child. All other fees apply.

Hatchery Founder's Celebration
On Wednesday December 30 from 1:30-2:30, Hatchery visitors will be able to celebrate the Hatchery becoming an environmental education center by learning about Julia Fairchild and her impact on the Hatchery. Take a tour of the trout ponds, feed the fish, and make a nature craft. General Admission.

Highlights of the Hatchery Tour
Join us Wednesday and Sundays at 3:30 in December, January, February, and March for a guided tour of the Hatchery with general admission. All children must be accompanied by an adult during the tour.

Egg Stripping Demonstrations
Fascinating demonstrations of the centuries old process of collecting trout eggs at the Hatchery.
